The Latvian parliament adopted amendments to the law that provide for a ban on gas supplies from Russia, the press service of the Seimas said on Thursday.


„On Thursday, the Seimas in the third, final reading supported amendments to the energy law, which provide for the diversification of natural gas supply routes and the provision of strategic natural gas reserves … The law also provides for a ban on the supply of natural gas from Russia,” the report says.

According to the portal Delfi.lv, the ban on Russian gas supplies will come into force on January 1, 2023.

Earlier, Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics said that Latvia intends to do without Russian gas.
